Course Description — The purpose of this course is to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of the core concepts of physiotherapy assessment and treatment of the equine patient.  The lessons  include assessment and treatment techniques for the following:  manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, range of motion testing, therapeutic exercise, and electro modalities used in equine rehabilitation. The skills learned in this course will allow graduates to bring benefit to horses, their owners.

Attendance Details: DVM, DO, DC, Animal Physiotherapists with sufficient equine anatomy & palpation skills.  If you would like to review your anatomy you can opt to take part in the 3-6 day Introduction to Equine Rehabilitation Live Lab for PT, PTA, Veterinary Techs which includes a review of anatomy, biomechanics and gait assessment.

Learning Objectives

Introduction to physical rehabilitation assessment and treatment using evidence based medicine.
Introduction to manual therapy including mobilization of joints, soft tissue, and fascia.
Introduction and theory of the proprioceptive system & neuromotor control.
Introduction to therapeutic exercise
Use of modalities in equine rehabilitation including; ultrasound, laser, thermal agents, and
electro-therapy.
Discuss the unique features of a rehabilitation business including documentation and team
