This Certification program in Equine Kinesiology Taping is offered to : Veterinarians (including students in their final year of school) Animal Physical Therapists, Physical Therapists with education in equine anatomy, Veterinary Technicians & Physical Therapist Assistants that have completed the CERA Certificate program, Equine Chiropractors, Equine Osteopaths. Certified Equine Massage Therapists that meet minimum requirements (check with ARI for eligibility).
CEKTT includes 6 online courses and 2 live labs. The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills to properly use kinesiology taping techniques within their everyday practice to benefit their equine patient. Following an introduction on the history and general characteristics of the tape, a comparison between the different elastic tapes available on the market will be demonstrated. This will allow students to understand the differences and acquire the knowledge to decide which tape is best suited for the chosen application. The basics of physiological action of the tape on the different body systems will be explained before introducing specific applications for muscles, tendon, ligaments, joints, lymphatic and neurological systems. While teaching the different possible therapeutic applications of the tape, the instructor will teach the basic clinical reasoning skills for a more effective use of kinesiology taping in the horse. During the Live Labs proper tension in the application of the tape will be demonstrated and practiced along with the correct anatomical placement of the tape. The instructor will guide the students in this proper application which is critical for the tapes effectiveness.
Each student will be able to demonstrate the ability to properly apply the tape for different types of conditions. You will be able to perform a complete clinical reasoning progression through the choice of tape and application of tape for treatment of specific conditions and cases.
